EVERETT, WA., May 15, 1998 -- On May 15, 1998, Boeing and British Airways celebrated the 2,000th widebody jet to be built at the Boeing factory in Everett, Wash. Boeing builds all three 7-series widebodies "the 747, 767 and 777" at the Everett factory. The milestone jet "a 747-400" was delivered after the celebration to British Airways. To commemorate the 2,000th Everett-built widebody, the City of Everett proclaimed May 15 as Boeing Widebody Day. The proclamation recognizes Boeing for industry leadership, quality airplanes, commitment to safety, excellent employees and community involvement. The world's first commercial widebody " a 747-100" was built in Everett and rolled out of the factory in 1968. Boeing has since donated that airplane to Seattle's Museum of Flight.
