Frontiers CoversBoeing Frontiers marks 1st anniversary

This edition of Boeing Frontiers marks the one-year anniversary of this Boeing employee publication.

Frontiers was first published in May 2002 as a replacement to the biweekly Boeing newspaper, Boeing News. By switching to the new monthly format the company saved in excess of $200,000 per year, largely through the reduction of distribution costs.

Frontiers is designed to complement Boeing News Now on the company intranet. BNN provides immediate information on breaking news about Boeing; Frontiers presents the "what" and "why" behind this news, details the markets Boeing operates in and outlines the strategies that are driving the company now and into the future.

Boeing distributes Frontiers to employees around the globe—copies can be found from Haikou, China, to Melbourne, Ark. Copies also go to 70,000 retirees and key journalists.

During its first year, Frontiers was recognized with 16 international awards of excellence. Such accolades, however, are not causing the staff to rest on its laurels. Recently, the publication conducted its first companywide survey to help capture reader feedback. More than 4,800 employee readers responded.

And the staff is listening.

Many readers wanted more news about smaller Boeing sites. This month we're taking a close look at Heath, Ohio, which houses the Boeing Guidance Repair Center. More sites will be profiled in the future.

Look for continuing improvements to Frontiers. If you have ideas for Frontiers improvements or editorial coverage, please feel free to contact us via e-mail at BoeingFrontiers@boeing.com or regular mail at Boeing Frontiers, MC 5003-0983, 100 N. Riverside, Chicago, IL, USA 60606.
