Copa Orders Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s with Winglets

Return to News Release

SEATTLE, Aug. 26, 2002 -- On Aug. 26, 2002, Copa Airlines of Panama announced its first order ever for Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s. The airline ordered two of the advanced-technology single-aisle airplanes, as well as four 737-700s. All six will feature performance-enhancing winglets that reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency. Copa already operates 10 Next-Generation 737-700s, making it one of the youngest fleets in Latin America. Additionally, Copa announced order options for four more 737-700s and two more 737-800s, for a total of 12 airplanes valued at approximately $650 million.
