08 | BOEING FRONTIERS SNAPSHOT Trail blazer A Boeing-built 702HP (high-power) satellite is launched into orbit last month from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The SES-9 satellite will expand direct-to-home broadcasting and communication services in Northeast Asia, South Asia and Indonesia; provide maritime communications for vessels in the Indian Ocean; and deliver high-speed broadband services to remote areas in the Asia-Pacific region. It is the 11th satellite Boeing has built for SES. A 12th is in production at Boeing’s Satellite Development Center in El Segundo, Calif. PHOTO: SPACEX
